BIOGRAPHY

Max Wieden is a multi-instrumentalist based in Phoenix. A graduate of Los Angeles College of Music, he has been drumming for over fifteen years, and has experience touring, recording, and teaching. He has played with a stylistically diverse array of bands. Most notably, he played drums on rock band Boss Frog's 2016 album Twilight Throb. He has also recorded drums and bass on the song "Shakin'" by LA songwriter Summer Woods, as well as on the 2020 album Heirloom by progressive metal band Enero. Max recorded drums and bass on the rock albums Who Loved Diana Bueller?  and Birthing of the Cackling Mouche by Bloodorama, which were released in 2022 and 2025 respectively. He used to be the drummer for Phoenix-based prog metal band Phoenix & Dragon, and has played with LA rock band HGroove. In 2022, he played drums as a cruise ship musician on the Norwegian Pearl. More recently, he has played with blues/rock band The Heavy Crawls.

Max has played bass and sang lead and background vocals in several working cover bands. He is also an excellent guitarist and plays lead guitar in the Pretenders/Pat Benatar tribute band Chain Breaker. He has written his own music, which he has performed in the guitar/piano duo Crabman Sudan.

 

His influences range from progressive rock artists such as Steven Wilson and Rush to blues artists like Stevie Ray Vaughan, jazz rock bands like Steely Dan, and songwriters like Jim Croce.
